Emily is a private cello instructor to the greater Conejo Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Santa Clarita Valley areas. She draws on years of performance and teaching to offer individualized instruction in cello for all ages. Her teaching includes instruction through Suzuki repertoire as well as utilizing Feuillard exercises, Dotzaur etudes, and Rick Mooney pedagogy. She includes basic music theory, posture, technical studies, and progressive repertoire in every lesson. Emily hopes to not only train up talented musicians, but to also encourage responsibility, perseverance, and enjoyment through music!

Emily has performed for dozens of venues across 8 countries and 3 continents. She received 12 years of formalized training including 4 years of specialized instruction of the Alexander Technique at The Master's University under Janet Crouch Shulman. Consequently, Emily brings a comprehensive approach to cello instruction, utilizing a knowledge of muscle and joint function to her teaching. Aside from using her talents weekly in a contemporary band setting, she also enjoys ensemble work in other capacities. She has performed in a commercial for the Porsche Panamera, a short film for EMD films, has recorded at Capital Records, and has had the pleasure of being the featured musician at various weddings, business functions, and private events.

Emily currently offers In-Home and Zoom lessons.

Zoom lessons are available on select weeknights. Please contact via email below for availability inquiries.

In-Home lessons are available by request in the student’s home. Due to current events, Emily ensures a 6-foot distance with students and wears a mask while in the student’s home. She reserves the right to opt for a Zoom lesson substitute at any time in consideration of the current health crisis.

All students are welcome to text, call, or email with questions related to their lessons or practice at any time for no additional charge. Demonstration videos may also be provided to students by request.

PERFORMANCE INQUIRIES

If interested in hiring Emily for performance, please contact by email below with information on the event and compensation. Emily will also happily assist in recommending other musicians for ensemble work if need be. 

Partial, Full and EXTENDED lessons

Partial Lessons: $45 for 45 minutes

Full Lessons: $60 for 60 minutes

Extended Lessons: $80 for 90 minutes (includes a 10 minute break)

In-Home Lessons: $5 additional base charge provided that lessons can be scheduled in conjunction with other lessons in the area. Rates increase based on location and distance.
